Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Research Program

Location The OCD Research Program is located on the second and third floor of the Outpatient Building. Park in Parking Lot A on the Butler campus and go to the receptionist in the main entrance for directions.

The OCD Research Program offers the following services:

  • Free psychiatric evaluations and treatment for people ages 18 and older who qualify to participate in certain studies.
  • Eligibility screening for most studies occurs by phone and takes approximately 30 minutes.
  • Study participants may be compensated for their time.

Types of OCD studies now being conducted:

  • Interview studies: These studies involve interviews with people with OCD. Compensation provided.
  • Information processing study: Computer-based research project for individuals with OCD and healthy individuals (control participants). Compensation provided.
  • Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Study: Treatment study for individuals with severe OCD who have failed to benefit from standard medication treatment and behavior therapy. DBS involves the implantation in the brain of a pacemaker-like device that stimulates the brain and affects brain function. The device has already been FDA-approved for severe brain tremor.
