Introduction
Each year about 700,000 Americans suffer a stroke. A very small percentage of these patients have a rare hereditary condition called CADASIL.

The site has been designed to help patients and their families understand and learn to cope with CADASIL. Click on the links to the left to learn more about CADASIL and on the links above to go to different sections of the website. There are also sections designed for physicians and researchers who want more technical information about CADASIL.

This website was developed by the Butler Hospital Memory and Aging Program in Providence, RI and also contains content from the Neurogenetic Study Group of the Neurological Clinic of the Grosshadern Clinics of Munich. The information in it is based on the clinical experience and scientific work of these and other research groups.
