Memory and Aging Program
The Butler Hospital Memory and Aging Program was founded in 1997 with the goal of assisting individuals with all types memory loss and dementia, as well as their families. Our clinic, under the leadership of Dr. Stephen Salloway, Chief of Neurology at Butler Hospital, has become a leading center for CADASIL clinical care and research in the United States. Over the past 10 years, Dr. Salloway and his colleagues at Brown Medical School have developed a comprehensive CADASIL research program. Currently, we are a national referral center for this disease and are following a large number of CADASIL families in the United States.

Butler Hospital
Founded in 1844, Butler Hospital is Rhode Island’s only private, nonprofit psychiatric and substance abuse hospital for adults, adolescents, children, and seniors. It is also one of the major teaching hospitals affiliated with Brown Medical School. Butler is the flagship for the Brown's Department of Psychiatry, which has been recognized by its peers as one of the top ten in the United States. The hospital is involved in a variety of research efforts which has earned it a national reputation as a major teaching and research facility.

Providence
Historic Providence, the capital of Rhode Island, is home to many colleges and universities, including Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design. Attractions include a zoo, art museums and galleries, art house movie theaters as well as a multiplex cinema, and world-class dining, especially on Federal Hill, Providence's version of Little Italy. Beaches, hiking trails, and the mansions of Newport are all nearby.
