Butler Hospital

During Hospitalization
At Butler Hospital, a team of mental health professionals work together to stabilize kids in crisis helping them back on the road to health quickly and safely.

Individualized behavior assessments and interventions are an important part of the treatment program. Treatment programs and activities take place daily on the unit and include a multi-dimensional approach to wellness by combining individual treatment, group therapies, and medications.

The treatment team meets regularly with each child and their parent or guardian to help the child regain control of behaviors associated with their illness. Daily groups help children to focus on developing skills in anger management, relaxation, and social and motor functioning. In addition, activities groups and tutoring to help the child keep up with school work while hospitalized are provided.

Family Involvement
Involvement of family members or others who play a significant role in a child’s life is encouraged, as they are an important part of successful treatment. However, contact will only be made with other family members with the consent of a child’s parent or guardian.
