The evening festivities kicked off with Joe Cavanagh, Golf Committee Chair, who spoke about the mission of the Thomas G. Cavanagh Memorial Fund, which is to raise awareness of the prevalence of mental illness in our society and to support efforts for ongoing research and for better treatment. Amid a hushed crowd, Joe shared with the golfers that his family is committed to this cause and embraces the challenge.
Butler's acting president and COO, Dr. Larry Price, thanked the Cavanaghs for the shared commitment between Butler Hospital and their family. With all the attention on him, Dr. Price told the audience that it's time we cure mental illness. Foundation Board Chairman Michael Matone wrapped up the program and sent attendees off to enjoy the dinner and support the silent auction. The Butler Hospital Golf Challenge raised over $165,000.
It was a successful event because it brought together sponsors, donors, golfers and friends to support research and provide treatment for mental illness. Butler Hospital is especially grateful to the Butler Hospital Foundation Board and the Golf Challenge Committee. Thank you for making this event a success!
