Partial Hospital Programs

Psychiatric Program

The Partial Hospital Psychiatric Program provides comprehensive care to men and women ranging in age from young adults to seniors. The program provides specialized care for people affected by serious emotional problems, work-related issues, relationship problems, and psychiatric disorders including serious depression and anxiety disorders.

Services include:

  • Assertiveness training
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Daily individual meetings with a staff psychiatrist
  • Group, family, and couples' psychotherapy
  • Illness and treatment education
  • Individual assessments and treatment
  • Leisure skills development
  • Medical and medication consultations
  • Stress management techniques
  • Symptom management education
Treatment may also include:
  • Aftercare referrals
  • Collaboration with other Butler treatment programs
  • Family involvement
  • Nutrition consultant
  • Neurological evaluation
  • Vocational and pre-vocational counseling

Alcohol and Drug Program

Many people who abuse drugs or alcohol have an underlying behavioral problem such as depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, or post traumatic stress disorder. With the resources of a world-renowned psychiatric staff, the care Butler provides to patients with dual-diagnoses is second-to-none. Throughout the day, patients participate in a variety of clinical and social activities designed to teach people the skills necessary to take control of their lives and overcome their need for alcohol or other drugs.

Services include:

  • Crisis intervention
  • Comprehensive assessments and evaluations
  • Family treatment with or without the substance abusing individual
  • Medical and medication consultations
  • Outpatient consultations with addiction psychiatrists and other addiction specialists
  • Specialized assessments on site when needed for depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, neurological and neuropsychological problems, and occupational problems
  • Twelve-Step self-help programs on site, including AA, Al-Anon, and NA and off-site use of NarAnon, AlaTeen, AA and NA

Women's Program

The first of its type in the region, the Women's Program is dedicated to treating women who feel hopeless, overwhelmed, depressed, and suicidal. The program can also assist women who are self-injurious, painfully lonely, feel "out-of-control," or who have problems with relationships. Staffed by psychiatric experts in women's health, the program's treatment is based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a clinically proven treatment that includes:

  • Individual therapy and medication management
  • Skills training in mindfulness, managing emotions, tolerating stress, and improving self-esteem
  • Weekly skills training follow-up groups for any interested patients after they are discharged
