Visiting Hours by Inpatient Unit

Senior Treatment Unit
Daily 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.; 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Intensive Treatment Units
Daily 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.; 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

General Adult Inpatient Units
Daily 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.; 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Adolescent Inpatient Unit
Daily 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.; 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Alcohol and Drug Inpatient Unit
Visiting hours follow participation in family and friends support groups held:
  • Mondays from 2:30-3:30 p.m., with visiting from 3:30-4:00 p.m.
  • Thursdays from 7:00-8:00 p.m., with visiting from 8:00-8:30 p.m.

Visiting Policy

During scheduled visiting hours, all inpatient visitors must first check in with Security in the Riverview Building Lobby, which is the main entrance to the hospital. Upon signing in, a visitor pass will be provided for you, as well as directions to the unit you are visiting. Your visitor pass must be worn throughout your visit.

Patient Privacy and Confidentiality

The Rhode Island Mental Health Law requires that the identity and treatment of all patients be confidential during and after their treatment at Butler Hospital. To check on a patient's condition you should contact a family member who has that information or call Social

Services at (401) 455-6325. Family members should contact Social Services to discuss their concerns and their involvement in treatment and discharge planning.
