From time to time, we all need the support of others to help us through difficult times. Sometimes being able to get another person's perspective or just being heard is all it takes. Butler Hospital hosts a variety of free weekly and month community support groups on the hospital’s campus.

Weekly Support Groups

Sundays

Narcotics Anonymous

7 pm - 8 pm; Ray Conference Center

Narcotics Anonymous is a self-help group for men and women recovering from or wanting to recover from an addiction to drugs. For questions or more information, call the Rhode Island Narcotics Anonymous Office at 401-461-1110.


Tuesdays

MDDA-DBSA (Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance) Self-help Group

7 - 9 pm; Ray Conference Center, Room 2

A support group for men and women with bipolar disorder. This meeting also takes place the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month from 10 am – noon. For questions or more information, call the MDDA Office at 401-309-7575.


Wednesdays

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) Skills Group

5 pm - 6:30 pm; Goddard Building, Room 188

A support group for individuals who have completed the Partial Hospital Program at Butler.


Thursdays

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Training Self-Help Class for Women

11 am - 1 pm; Goddard Building, Lower Level, Room LL047

A support group for women who have completed the Women's Partial Program at Butler and/or a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy program. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch and/or beverage. For questions or more information, call 401-365-4328.

Self-Help Group for Butler Hospital Alcohol Drug Treatment Services Patients

1 - 2 pm; Goddard Building, Partial Hospital Group Room

For patients and former patients who have completed the Alcohol Drug Partial Hospital program at Butler. For questions or more information, call 401-455-6224.

SMART Recovery (Self-Management and Recovery Training)

7 - 8 pm; Ray Conference Center, Room 3

SMART Recovery is a support group for men and women recovering from, or considering recovering from, an addiction to substances, addictive behaviors, or both. For questions or more information, call 1-866-951-5357.


Fridays

Al-Anon

7:30 pm - 8:30 pm; Ray Conference Center, Room 1

Al-anon is a support group for men and women with a family member, friend, or loved one who struggles with addiction.

Narcotics Anonymous

7:30 pm - 9 pm; Ray Conference Center, Room 2

Alcoholics Anonymous - *Women's Meeting

12 - 1 pm; Ray Conference Center, Room 2

For *women recovering from or wanting to recover from an addiction to alcohol. For questions or more information, call the Rhode Island Alcoholics Anonymous at 401-438-8860.

Al-Anon

12 - 1 pm; Ray Conference Center, Room 5

A support group for men and women with a family member, friend, or loved one who struggles with addiction.

Compulsive Hoarding Support Group

This meeting takes place the third Wednesday of each month; 5 – 6:30 pm; Ray Conference Center, Room 1

A support group for people who struggling with compulsive hoarding, their family and friends. For questions or more information, contact Dr. Maria Mancebo, 401-455-6216.

MDDA-DBSA (Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance) Self-help Group

This meeting takes place the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month; 10 am - 12 pm; Ray Conference Center, Room 1

A support group for men and women with bipolar disorder. This meeting also takes place weekly on Tuesdays (see weekly schedule above) from 7 – 9 pm. For questions or more information, call the MDDA Office at 401-309-7575.
