Lisa Shea, MD, serves as medical director of Butler Hospital, ensuring that the hospital's services meet the highest levels of quality and regulatory compliance. She is a member of the hospital’s Executive Management Team.
Appointed deputy medical director in 2012, Dr. Shea is a past president of the Medical Staff Association and has served as associate medical director, Quality & Regulation, and assistant unit chief of the Partial Hospital. A member of the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (NAPHS) Board of Trustees and a member of their Quality Committee and Behavioral Health Services Committee, Dr. Shea was elected board chair-elect of NAPHS and will become board chair of the organization at the conclusion of 2014. In addition to holding the appointment of clinical associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at The Warren Alpert School of Medicine of Brown University, Dr. Shea served on the National Quality Forum’s Behavioral Health Steering Committee from 2012 to 2014 and was just appointed to serve on its standing Behavioral Health Steering Committee. The chair of the hospital’s Medical Records Committee and the Clinical Quality Committee, she is a member of the Care New England Quality Committee. She is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and was selected the 2007 Employee of the Year at Butler Hospital.
A graduate of the 2009 Leadership Rhode Island Epsilon II class, she earned her MD from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed her residency in psychiatry at Brown.
