Real Stories Real Recoveries: Luncheon featuring Lorraine Bracco

Thursday, April 24, 2008
Noon to 1:30 PM
The Westin Providence Hotel

Registration for this event is closed.

Lorraine Bracco is one of the most recognizable actresses working today. She has a glamorous and intelligent presence on both the big and the small screen, as well as on the Broadway stage. The award-winning actress played psychiatrist Dr. Jennifer Melfi on HBO’s hit series The Sopranos, which earned her multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild awards nominations for Best Actress in a TV Drama.

In her 2006 book, “On the Couch”, Lorraine is startlingly honest about her victory over depression, her willingness to seek treatment, and finding her way again. She speaks openly and candidly about her struggles and recovery from clinical depression.

Real Stories, Real Recoveries is a mission driven fundraiser for Butler Hospital, Rhode Island’s oldest hospital and only private psychiatric and substance abuse treatment facility. As the flagship hospital for The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University’s Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Butler Hospital is dedicated to providing educational programs, like Real Stories, Real Recoveries, which create greater understanding of depression, addictions, and other illnesses that impact mental health.

This event has many objectives:

  • decrease the negative stigma associated with mental illness
  • increase access to treatment for Rhode Islanders
  • promote the depth and scope of the programs conducted at Butler Hospital
  • encourage inquiries through our expert staff or on-line assessment tools
