Philip C. Russell is the Unit Chief of the Lippitt 2 Intensive Treatment Unit as well as a consulting physician to the Crisis Stabilization Unit. A Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Dr. Russell received his medical degree from the MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine. He completed his residency in General Internal Medicine at Brown University, Rhode Island and Miriam Hospitals, and his residency in psychiatry at Brown University, Butler Hospital. Dr. Russell served as medical director of inpatient psychiatric services at the Providence VA Medical Center until 2007, and since then has worked at Butler Hospital in the partial hospital and adult inpatient mood disorders units until assuming his current position. He has worked as a consultant to the program for the all-inclusive care for the elderly and worked in the field of addiction in a variety of capacities prescribing suboxone and serving as the medical director of Symmetry at Duncan Lodge, a residential rehabilitation facility on Butler campus.
