Founded in 1844, Butler Hospital is Rhode Island's only non-profit, free-standing psychiatric hospital providing adults, seniors, and adolescents specialized assessment and treatment for all major psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse.

Recovery from substance use is a life-long process with no two paths alike. At Butler, we believe anyone who has a desire for sobriety has a 100% chance of recovery.

We're currently offering the following Outpatient Programs at our South County location:

Alcohol and Drug Intensive Outpatient

Structured and on a part-time basis
Designed to accommodate work and family life
Effective in stabilizing symptoms, limiting the need for hospital stays
Provides patients with skillset and resources to maintain recovery

Recovery Stabilization

Provides direct access to all substance use treatment options
Your recovery support team may include a physician, nurse, therapist, and case worker
Your team will follow your care and fully support you regardless of what additional services are required as part of your recovery process
