Prescription neuromodulation devices are FDA-cleared or FDA-approved medical devices that are prescribed by a clinician and used at home as part of a structured treatment plan. Depending on the device, treatment may include noninvasive electrical stimulation, remote symptom tracking, treatment adherence monitoring, and regular check-ins with your care team.
If a prescription neuromodulation device may be right for you, here's what you can expect:
An initial phone screening or referral review
Home neuromodulation devices may be an option for adults with depression who have not improved enough with medication and can safely use a prescribed device at home. Your care team will determine whether this treatment is right for you based on your diagnosis, symptom severity, treatment history, medical conditions, safety assessment, ability to follow the treatment plan, and clinical judgment.
Before treatment begins, you'll receive education about how to use the device safely and correctly. During treatment, your care team will regularly assess your symptoms, monitor your progress and treatment adherence, and schedule follow-up visits to review how you're doing. You'll also receive clear instructions about possible side effects, worsening symptoms, urgent concerns, and who to contact between visits.
ProlivRx is an FDA-approved, prescription-only neuromodulation system that provides focal external Combined Occipital and Trigeminal Afferent Stimulation (eCOT-AS). It is approved as an add-on treatment for adults with Major Depressive Disorder who have not had satisfactory improvement after trying at least one antidepressant medication. Treatment can be provided at home or in the clinic under the guidance of a prescribing clinician.
ProlivRx is a prescription-only neuromodulation system that delivers focal external Combined Occipital and Trigeminal Afferent Stimulation (eCOT-AS). It is intended as an add-on treatment for adults with Major Depressive Disorder who have not had satisfactory improvement after trying at least one antidepressant medication.

Yes. You'll have an initial screening and clinical evaluation. If ProlivRx is prescribed, your care team will provide education, device setup instructions, and a monitoring plan. Although you'll complete some or all your treatment at home, regular follow-up appointments and check-ins remain an important part of your care.

You may notice stimulation-related sensations while using the device. Before treatment begins, your care team will explain what to expect, review possible side effects, show you how to use the device correctly, and let you know when to contact the team with questions or concerns.
Throughout treatment, you may complete symptom assessments, treatment adherence checks, and scheduled follow-up visits or phone calls. This helps your care team make sure you're using the device as prescribed, monitor how you're responding to treatment, and adjust your care plan if needed.
Yes. Neuromodulation treatments are often used alongside medications and psychotherapy. Your care team will review your current treatment plan and determine how ProlivRx fits into your care. Do not stop or change any prescribed treatment without talking with your clinician.

Together, you'll decide on the next steps, which may include continuing treatment, adjusting your care plan, exploring other BRaIN Program options, or returning to your referring provider for ongoing care.
