Project RISE in PTSD

Formal Study Name

Project RISE in PTSD - Research Investigating Stimulation for Extinction in PTSD

Study Information

We are looking for people who are diagnosed by a clinician with posttraumatic stress disorder and who are interested in being part of a research study in which we look at the effects of a very low level of electrical current on the scalp (called tDCS) on emotional learning and memory. This study will involve five study visits. On the first visit we will do a screening and then make an appointment for a second visit, during which you will get a brain scan. On visits three, four and five you will do a computer task that tests emotional learning and memory. During one of those days you may or may not also receive the very low level of electrical current through two electrodes attached to your head.

Number of visits: 5

Duration of visits: Visit 1 about 3 hours, visits 2-5 about 1 hour each visit.
